The Graceful and Striking Serpent of the Pacific
The Ribbon Eel (Rhinomuraena quaesita) is an exceptionally elegant and visually captivating marine predator, famous for its incredibly long, slender, ribbon-like body and its dramatically flared nostrils. Known for changing colors throughout its life cycle (often culminating in a brilliant yellow phase), this mesmerizing bottom-dweller brings a fluid, dynamic elegance to large predator aquariums. Due to its aggressive nature and highly specialized care requirements, it is strictly recommended for experienced marine aquarists.
Key Features of this Edition:
Global Presence: Native to the vibrant and coral-rich waters of the Tropical Western Pacific.
Specialized Behavior: A highly secretive, bottom-dwelling eel that loves to bury itself in deep sand or hide within rocky crevices, often leaving only its head exposed to observe its surroundings. Note: A very tight-fitting aquarium lid is absolutely mandatory, as they are notorious escape artists.
Natural Habitat & Diet: In the wild, it ambushes small fishes and crustaceans passing by its burrow. In a captive environment, it requires a substantial diet of live or frozen meaty foods, including marine invertebrates and live feeder fishes.
Lighting Preference: Thrives in brightly lit environments but specifically without direct sunlight, perfectly replicating the shaded security of its natural reef crevices.
[Exclusive Video Observation Included]
This edition includes an HD short observation clip showcasing the Ribbon Eel’s spectacular ribbon-like body, its distinctively flared nostrils, and its mesmerizing, fluid movements along the substrate.
Best for: advanced marine aquarists, predator tank enthusiasts, eel collectors, marine biologists, and lovers of elegant, highly specialized marine species.
Note: Full care data, extreme reef-tank requirements, specialized feeding behavior, and environmental parameters are included in the Digital Infographic Card inside your download folder.
Formats included: High-Resolution Infographic Card (PNG/PDF) + Video Clip (MP4).
