The Industrious Jewel of the Western Pacific
The Rainford's Goby, affectionately known as the Old Glory Goby, is a beautifully subtle and highly beneficial inhabitant of the Western Pacific coral reefs. Characterized by its slender body adorned with striking horizontal orange-red stripes and prominent black eyespots on its dorsal and anal fins, this peaceful species is a true masterpiece of the marine environment. It is an industrious bottom-dweller that continuously sifts through the sand, foraging on tiny invertebrates and helping control filamentous algae in mature reef settings.
