Characterized by its yellow, armor-like scales outlined in bold black—resembling a pinecone or pineapple—and possessing bioluminescent light organs on its lower jaw, this peaceful, nocturnal species is a true masterpiece of marine evolution. It is a specialist that thrives in mature, dimly lit reef settings with ample caves and hiding spots.
