Every other piece in this collection lives on a coral reef. This one does not.

Flying fish leave the water entirely. Pursued from below, they build speed, break the surface and glide on pectoral fins stretched like wings — covering as much as two hundred metres in a single flight, sometimes beating the surface with the tail to launch again. They are among the very few vertebrates that solved the problem of escape by leaving their medium altogether.

Digital Soul #010 is the collection's first open-ocean species, and its first departure from the reef.
